The CFI supports Canada Research Chairs with more than $8 million in infrastructure funding
OTTAWA, ONTARIO — The Government of Canada announced new funding today for the Canada Research Chairs (CRC) Program, including money for state-of-the-art research equipment and facilities.
This new funding will support the research of 203 new and current Chairholders. The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) contributed more than $8 million in research infrastructure funding for 49 Chairholders at 26 universities across the country. This contribution is part of a total investment from the Government of Canada of more than $164 million, announced today by Minister of Science, Kirsty Duncan at the University of Toronto.

Each year, the CRC Program invests approximately $265 million in research to attract some of the world’s most accomplished and promising minds to Canada, and to keep them here. Chairholders are recognized for their research excellence in engineering and the natural sciences, health sciences, humanities and social sciences.
