OTTAWA, ONTARIO — Today, Québec Science released its special annual issue that highlights the top 10 scientific discoveries from Quebec, which range from advancements in neonatal care to more effective pain medication. Several of the discoveries were supported by funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI).

The magazine, dedicated to reporting on science, nominates projects that have led to significant and ground-breaking discoveries that not only push the limits of science, but also greatly benefit Canadians. This year’s nominees come from the Centre de recherche du CHU Sainte-Justine, the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre, the Institut national de la recherche scientifique — Le Centre Énergie Matériaux Télécommunications, Université Laval, Université du Québec à Montréal, McGill University, Université de Montréal and Polytechnique Montréal.

The nominated projects represent a variety of research fields from immunology, photonics and optics, materials science and chemistry, to neurology and soil biology. The CFI contributed funding for state-of-the-art labs and equipment that helped advance some of these research projects.
