The CFI makes new governance appointments
OTTAWA, ONTARIO — The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) is pleased to welcome three new Members to its governing body: Sophie Bouffard, Carrie Bourrassa and Jean-Paul Deveau.
The CFI’s Board of Directors reports to Members — prominent individuals who represent the public and have a deep understanding of research and its impact on society. Members are appointed for five-year terms.
Bouffard is the President of the Université de Saint-Boniface in Winnipeg, Man., and has worked in post-secondary education in various leadership positions for close to 20 years. Bourrassa is the Scientific Director of the national Institute of Indigenous Peoples’ Health at the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, and a professor of community health and epidemiology at the University of Saskatchewan. Deveau is the President and CEO of Acadian Seaplants Limited, a biotech company and the largest independent manufacturer of marine plant products of its type in the world.
In addition, Members Jack Gauldie and Louise Proulx have been reappointed for a second five-year term, and Board Director Cecilia Moloney has been reappointed for a second three-year term.
