Renowned professor and environmental scientist, Dr. Ingrid J. Pickering, appointed new CFI Board Chair
OTTAWA, ONTARIO – The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) welcomes the appointment of Dr. Ingrid J. Pickering as the Chair of its Board of
Dr. Pickering, who has served as a CFI Board Director since 2013, is the fourth Chair of the Board of Directors, and the first female Chair. She succeeds Dr. Kevin P. D. Smith, who served on the CFI Board of Directors since December 2007, and as its Chair since June 2010. Dr. Pickering is a professor and Canada Research Chair in Molecular Environmental Science at the University of Saskatchewan. Her research uses and develops synchrotron X-ray techniques to study metals and other elements in biological systems of relevance to the environment and human health.
“We are thrilled that Dr. Pickering will be bringing her knowledge and insights on Canada’s research ecosystem into her role as Chair of the Board,” said Roseann O’Reilly Runte, President and CEO of the CFI. “We would also like to thank Dr. Smith for his dedicated service to helping advance Canada’s research enterprise, and for his contribution to Canada’s innovation landscape.”
