For women who develop diabetes during pregnancy, there is a good chance the disease will recur – and not just in the women themselves; it can also affect other members of their family. As director of the clinical epidemiology division of the Centre for Outcomes Research and Evaluation at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre, Dr. Kaberi Dasgupta studies the effects of diseases such as diabetes on populations and develops intervention strategies to help people and their families reduce the risk factors that cause these diseases.
